Stree Movie Review

Stree, a horror comedy, a movie starring the talented Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor is the first of its kind movie in Bollywood. The movie is based in a village which is haunted by a witch, Stree, who calls men by their names and abducts them, leaving their clothes behind. The movie follows Rajkummar Rao aka. Vicky, a tailor by profession, not believing in the concept of ghost. He meets Shraddha Kapoor, an unnamed women, and instantly falls in love with her. The movie then follows the mysterious dissapearence of men from the village, incuding the friend of Vicky. The remainder of the film is spent in finding a way to bring back the abducted men.

The movie on its own is well directed and all the actors give a decent performance in entertaining the audience. However, the standout performers remain Rajkummar Rao and the mastereo Pankaj Tripathi. Although, his role is limited to few occasions, but he never misses to entertain with his comic timing and one-liners. The scripwwwt of the movie is straightforward with the main turning point coming at the very end. The supporting cast consisting of Aparshakti Khurrana, Abhishek Banerjee and Atul Shrivastava are equaly fun to watch and justify their casting fully. The direction of Amar Kaushik is fine with few scenes where one might think that the direction could have been better but again such scenes can be ignored consdering the est. 20crore budget. Shraddha Kapoor gave a slightly above average performance comparing it to her other movies. Again reiterating, the show stealer is Rajkummar Rao with his perfect comic timing and dependable acting skills. You will not feel bored whenever he is on the screen, be it his encounter with the Stree or his scenes with Shraddha Kapoor.

Coming to the Stree character, she is not given a lot of screen time and it did worked out positively for the movie. The character is not completely horrific and tssshus perfectly fits the genre of horror-comedy. The shots with her are very well shot and would easily grab ones attention. The movie may seen vague at some points but considering it to be a horror-comedy, such vagueness can be accepted.

Conclusively, it is definately a must watch movie for all Rajkummar Rao fans as they wont be dissapointed from the movie. The movie is entertaining and a good wa to killyour time or spend time with your family. Do go and watch it in the cinemas as it is a paisa wasool movie but still it remains a one-time watch. The box-office numbers and an 8.4/10 rating on imdb are proof a of it.

If you are here then you must also be a movie freak just as I am. I am the kind of person who watches almost every movie and then love to share my thoughts and opinions so that some other person can benefit from it from either spending time and money to watch a particular movie or stay home and choose some other quality movie.
